What began as ideas about investments between what their website calls “a crazy Washington wheat farmer and an east coast finance wizard,” has led to something extraordinary.
They planted their first estate grown grapes in the spring of 2017 in Eltopia, WA. Through trial and error and constant improvements, they are making their way forward. “We aim to make all our wines with as little input and interference as possible,” the 4 Whistles Winery Website states, “We believe this helps the wine and the grapes speak to every person in a unique way.”
Many of their wines are fermented using only native yeast and bacteria found on the grape skins. “This highlights each grape's varietals unique character.”
The family owned estate vineyard and small batch winery strives to make exceptional wine at honest prices.
They recently held a grand opening celebration, just in time for the holidays, at their new tasting storefront in downtown Kennewick. The ribbon cutting, held Dec. 13, featured several people from the City of Kennewick including Mayor Pro-Tem Charles Torelli, council member Jim Milbauer, Economic Development Manager Rohana Carmichael, and others.
Also attending were Executive Director of the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership Stephanie Button who, along with Torelli, gave speeches for the occasion, welcoming 4 Whistles to downtown Kennewick.
The 4 Whistles family Samuel, Kandice, Jane, and Phil are excited for this latest venture and invite you to visit their tasting room at 119 1st Ave Suite B in Kennewick or their winery in Eltopia. The tasting room is open Thursdays 3-7pm, Friday and Saturday 12-7 pm and Sundays 1-5 pm.
