Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo leaders present a check to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation.
KENNEWICK – The Benton Franklin Fair presented a check for $5,642 to the Tri-
Cities Cancer Center Foundation on November 21. The donation was generously given as part of the Fair's Tough Enought to Wear Pink Program. This year, the fair graciously gifted just shy of $12,000 to local health organizations, including the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation, Prosser Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Grace Clinic to support local cancer prevention efforts.
Every year, Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo attendees are encouraged to wear pink on Thursday to raise awareness about breast cancer, and additional fundraisers are held during
the off-season to bolster support for this important initiative.
Over the past 16 years, the Fair has donated more than $224,000 to help
community members in the fight against breast cancer. Those dollars have
provided more than 2,000 people with free mammograms and cancer screenings,
follow-up care and other forms of assistance.
"We have made Tough Enough to Wear Pink a core initiative for the Fair,
resulting in a healthier population and a heightened awareness about breast
cancer prevention," said Fair Board President Duane Howard. "We appreciate our
health care partners and all they do for our community and are pleased to make
this donation to support their efforts."
This year’s program sponsors include Wrangler, Trios Health, Lourdes Health,
the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation, Prosser Memorial Health, Washington
Trust Bank and the Benton County Sheriff Foundation.
